My Promenade

My name is Gianna Dalla-Vecchia and I am the author behind this blog.

Here is my promenade…

I was born in Australia and raised in Melbourne by a wonderful Italo-Australian family. I possess no brothers or sisters but I do come from a large and very close family, which certainly makes up for me not having any siblings. I have two lovely pets, a Maltese Shih-Tzu cross named Snowi, who has been in the family for over ten years and a budgie called Otis who is six years old. I also have a lovely boyfriend whom I cherish very much.

I am nineteen years old and I am studying a Bachelor of Journalism. I am currently in my second year at university.

I am passionate about writing, presenting and the world of music. Fortunately I have been able to combine all three of my passions.

I co-present a radio show at a radio station called, '88.6 Plenty Valley FM'. On a fortnightly basis, on a Friday afternoon, I drive people home from 4-6pm. These two hours are jam packed, filled with music from Australia and beyond, random news that have been flying around the net and famous birthdays for that specific date. As well as news, sport and weather and up-to-date traffic reports and alerts… It’s a fantastic opportunity and great fun!

You can tune into ‘Friday Drive’ on a fortnightly basis on the station’s website… www.pvfm.org.au. You can listen to the show being streamed live.

I am also a Business Development trainee at 88.6 Plenty Valley FM, as of next year, I will become the station's Business Development Manager. This is a great opportunity as I am able to meet and greet many local communities that are listeners and supporters at the radio station.
As well as this, I am also a web content writer for one of Melbourne's biggest community radio stations, 89.9 LightFM. I write and review their most popular shows and also write articles on relevant and in-depth topics discussed live on-air.

On the side, I work for one of Australia's leading high fashion labels for women, Cue Company & Co.

CHARMZ photo shoot
In 2006, at the age of 14, I won an Australia-wide search to be part of Australia’s youngest all-girl pop-group, ‘CHARMZ’, which was based on the Barbie movie, ‘The Barbie Diaries’, which was released that same year. I was in the band with three other girls. We recorded a single and a self-titled album, which featured a song I wrote in grade five called, ‘Feel the Beat’. For two years we toured around the east coast of Australia, singing at festivals, fundraisers and shopping centres. We appeared on kid’s TV shows such as ‘The Shak’, ‘Creature Features’ and ‘Sarvo’, as well as the 2006 ‘Nickelodeon Australian Kid’s Choice Awards’. We also featured in magazines such as ‘Dolly’ (appearing on their front cover), ‘Smash Hits’ and ‘Total Girl’ as well as local and interstate newspapers including, Sydney’s ‘The Sunday Telegraph’.

In my past time, I enjoy writing poetry and song lyrics. I am a writer full member of ‘APRA’ (The Australasian Performing Right Association). I interestingly enough enjoy looking at real estate; (I know, a rather random liking) and I also love to sing and play the piano in my spare time. On top of this I work with women’s apparel, which I have been doing since the age of sixteen. I also help run and attend a youth group and whenever I can, I volunteer at a charity group, assisting people in my local community.

I have always obtained a love for writing and even more so, I have from a very young age enjoyed listening to people’s life journeys, finding them rather intriguing.

I believe every story, every promenade is like no other and therefore should be told. We can all learn and grow from other people’s experiences and journeys through life.

No matter if a person is known by many or known by few, each and every one of us in some way can leave our mark in our society.

Every person has a story. We are all walking along life’s promenade.

I would love to hear your promenade.  Send me your promenade to promenadewithme@hotmail.com
